The Prodigals

Today May 19, 2023
after mass

To save our children from this insanity our leaders need to be converted

Pat suggested that we pray to Saint Ambrose as well
so at the end of the prayer, we might say

St. Ambrose, you inspired St.Augustine.
We ask you to pray for all our leaders who have strayed from God
Send each one of them a kind soul who will help lead them back

A few months ago we started a little prayer group ( thanks Jackie for initiating this ) with a prayer petitioning St. Monica to intercede for us in our worries and anxieties. As a mournful mother, of a prodigal son, Saint Monica understands a mother's heart. So after mass, we pray for the intentions that are in our hearts: our loved ones, our spouses, children, grandchildren, etc. A couple of weeks ago our parish was given this beautiful icon as a gift. Thank you Gloria! God bless you!

Lately, I, have extended my prayers to include children who are being led astray by a society that has lied to them about their identity as children of God, male and female wonderfully made in His image and likeness. This saddens me so much. Our leaders, have let them down, by pushing this radical sexual agenda everywhere: in our schools, our hospital, and our Universities. For the sake of our children O Lord, please open the eyes of all who are blind to the harm that is being inflicted on our little ones Bring them back!

In the 50's it was lobotomies. Today it is the sexual exploitation, abuse, and mutilation of children

Saint Monica pray for all these little ones and for their families

Icon of Our Lady of Persecuted Christians at Annunciation of the Lord Parish, Ottawa, ON

Thanks to our Knights of Columbus, Council 2008, the Icon of Our Lady of Persecuted Christians will be present in our Church for veneration from Monday November 19th, to Sunday, November 25th. All are welcome to spend time with the Icon during the week. Prayer cards are available.

When I arrived at our Church for our Monday evening Prayer Meeting last evening around 7:10, I noticed the  beautiful icon was already installed in the Church and there were several parishioners from Nazareth Family Living  praying before Our Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, so I stayed for a short time and prayed as well.  A young lady was singing and playing lovely worship music on the piano and Father Dan Dubroy was hearing confessions. It was all very beautiful

Our Prayer Meeting is every Monday at 7:30 so last night Joan our Leader suggested we pray silently in the Church with the Nazareth Group who had organized  this time of adoration . This is an opportunity you just don't want to pass up.

Thank you Lord for this very special time

Christopher Folz Presentation - Annunciation of the Lord Parish - May 27, 2018

Presentation / Discussion with Christopher Folz, Barrister and Solicitor
After mass this Sunday morning
on Catholicism and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
What can we do?

Christopher Folz

It was an interesting and enlightening presentation
As a practicing Catholic, Mr. Folz is concerned these days by what he sees in respect to recent laws He explained some ways that we as Catholics can and should advocate for our beliefs which are under attack by Governments as well as the media.

He spoke about the Constitution and our Rights under the Constitution.

Entrenched In the Constitution is the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and under #7 of  the Charter of the Rights and Freedoms is the right to Life, Liberty and Religion and these Rights must be applied equally to each person.

From the preamble of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
" Whereas, Canada is founded on principals that recognize ' the Supremecy of God AND the rule of law '"  The use of the word AND means that both are together. The separation of Church and State does not mean they they are mutually exclusive.

Mr. Folz said that the Catholic Church is a self governing organization and we MUST be able to advocate on behalf of our Faith . In regards to the Summer Jobs Program the Liberal Government is essentially picking on us and Folz says this is extremely problematic. Right now there are about 27 court challenges. The Federal Government has not deemed it necessary to create an Administrative Tribunal which would be necessary  to challenge the decision of the Minister responsible. So this is basically a unilateral decision on the part of the Government so the Right to have the Law applied equally to each person is missing in the Summer Jobs Program. Is the law applied equally when you are required to sign a form that goes against your Conscience? The answer is NO. It is contrary to Section 2 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. 1700 Organizations have been turned away because of this.

Whether our Government leaders like it or not the Christian Faith  is an essential part of our Constitution.  Our Separate Schools are as well. The Constitution would have to be changed to get rid of them .

But in spite of all this Folz says there are things that we can do and we must not loose hope: letter writing, speaking to your MP, peaceful witnessing etc. We do a lot of peaceful witnessing and of course we will continue.  It is frustrating though : Catholics are often portrayed by the media as closed minded hateful bigots and we are probably the most persecuted of Christians

But we keep going and we give Praise to God!
